  • Passive mode, FTP
  • 0

If you're having trouble connecting to your server via FTP, enabling Passive Mode may help. This setting is especially important if you're behind a firewall or router, as it changes the way your FTP client communicates with the server.

What is Passive Mode?

Passive Mode is a more firewall-friendly FTP connection method. It allows the client to establish both the command and data channels, making it easier to connect through restricted networks.

How to Enable Passive Mode

Most FTP clients (like WinSCP, Cyberduck, Transmit, etc.) have an option to enable Passive Mode in their settings or preferences. Look for "Connection Settings" or "Transfer Mode" and choose Passive.
