If you no longer need an FTP user account — for example, when a developer finishes a project — you can remove it easily from your cPanel.

Steps to Delete an FTP Account

Step 1: Log in to cPanel
Go to yourdomain.com/cpanel or log in via your client area.

Step 2: Open FTP Accounts
In the Files section, click on FTP Accounts.

Step 3: Locate the Account
Scroll down to the FTP Accounts list and find the user you want to delete.

Step 4: Click Delete
Click the Delete button next to the user. You’ll be given two options:

  • Delete Account – removes the FTP user only.
  • Delete Account and Files – removes the user and deletes the files in their assigned directory.

Tip: If you’re unsure, choose Delete Account to keep the files. You can delete the files manually later if needed.

Once deleted, the account will no longer appear in the list.

Done! You've successfully removed an FTP account from your cPanel.
