What do I set my domains name servers to? Print

  • 0

If you registered your domain name with Hosting Chilli, your DNS is automatically set — there’s nothing more you need to do.

However, if your domain is managed by a third party (another registrar), you’ll need to manually update the DNS settings to point to our servers.

How to Change Your DNS

  1. Log in to your domain registrar's control panel.
  2. Locate your domain’s DNS or Name Server settings.
  3. Replace the current name servers with the ones provided in your Hosting Chilli welcome email, which usually look like this:

ns1.hostingchilli.com
ns2.hostingchilli.com
ns3.hostingchilli.com
ns4.hostingchilli.com

Make sure to save the changes.

DNS Propagation Time

Changing your DNS typically takes 24–48 hours to fully propagate across the internet. During this time, your website may appear online in some locations and offline in others — this is completely normal.

Think of DNS like a postcode — without it, the internet doesn’t know where to send your domain traffic.

Lost Your Welcome Email?

If you can’t find your welcome email, simply open a support ticket and request your server’s DNS information — we’ll be happy to assist!

A copy of your welcome email can also be retrieved anytime from your Client Area under Email History.
