The Backup Wizard in cPanel is a simplified tool that walks you through the process of backing up and restoring your website. It’s perfect for beginners or anyone who wants a fast and easy way to protect their website data.
Steps to Create a Backup Using Backup Wizard:
Step 1: Log in to your cPanel account.
Step 2: Scroll to the Files section and click Backup Wizard.
Step 3: On the first screen, click Backup.
Step 4: Choose either:
- Full Backup – Includes your entire cPanel account (home directory, databases, email, settings).
- Partial Backup – Choose to backup just the Home Directory, MySQL Databases, or Email Forwarders and Filters.
Step 5:
- If you selected Full Backup, choose your backup destination (usually “Home Directory”), enter your email to be notified when it’s complete, then click Generate Backup.
- If you selected a Partial Backup, simply click the corresponding button to download your selected backup file.
Backup File Details:
- Full backups are saved as .tar.gz files.
- You can download them to your local computer once the backup is complete.
Note:
Full backups cannot be restored through cPanel. You’ll need to contact Hosting Chilli support if you need help restoring one. For more flexibility, consider downloading Partial Backups.
