Restoring a backup can help bring your website back to a previous working state — useful after accidental changes, file deletion, or corruption.

Option 1: Restore via the Backup Tool

Restore Website Files or Home Directory

  • Log into cPanel
  • Go to the Files section and click on Backup
  • Under Restore a Home Directory Backup, click Choose File
  • Select the backup file from your local computer (usually a .tar.gz file)
  • Click Upload to begin the restoration

Restore a MySQL Database

  • In the Backup section of cPanel, scroll to Restore a MySQL Database
  • Click Choose File and upload your .sql.gz backup
  • Click Upload and cPanel will restore the database

Option 2: Restore Using the Backup Wizard

  • Log into cPanel
  • Click on Backup Wizard under the Files section
  • Choose Restore
  • Select what you want to restore:

- Home Directory
- MySQL Databases
- Email Forwarders & Filters

Upload the corresponding backup file and follow the prompts

Notes & Best Practices:

  • Make sure your backup file is recent and complete
  • Always create a new backup before restoring, in case something goes wrong
  • Large restores might take time — be patient or contact support if needed
