What’s the difference between POP3 and IMAP? Print

  • 0

Understanding the difference between POP3 and IMAP helps ensure your email setup suits your usage style and device preferences.

POP3 (Post Office Protocol v3) downloads emails from the server to your device and removes them from the server by default. It’s ideal for single-device access or for archiving messages locally.

IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) keeps your email on the server and syncs it across all devices. It’s better for accessing mail from multiple devices and ensures consistency across your inbox. We recommend using IMAP for most users, especially if you want to access your email from both desktop and mobile.
