Getting Started with Your Hosting Account

Step 1: Update Your Domain Name Servers (DNS)

The first step is to update your domain’s DNS to the name servers provided in your Welcome Email.

Note:

  • If you registered your domain through Hosting Chilli, this step is already taken care of.
  • If your domain was registered elsewhere, refer to your Welcome Email for our DNS details.

DNS Propagation

After updating your DNS, please allow 24–48 hours for propagation to complete worldwide. During this time, your website may appear online intermittently.

If it’s still not working after 48 hours, please contact our support team.

Email Setup Notice

By default, no email addresses are created for your domain.

The default cPanel username may appear like an email address, but it’s not functional unless added as an actual email account in cPanel.

Uploading Your Website

You can begin uploading your website files immediately using an FTP client like FileZilla (a free download link is included in your Welcome Email).

FTP Settings:

  • Host/Server: Use the IP address from your Welcome Email
  • Username & Password: Your cPanel login details
  • Directory to Upload Files: public_html/ (or www/)

To replace the placeholder page, make sure to upload a file named index.htm or index.html (in all lowercase).

Accessing Important Links

Until your DNS propagates, use your IP address instead of your domain.

  • cPanel: http://your-ip-here/cpanel
  • Webmail: http://yourdomain.com/webmail (May not work during DNS propagation)

View Site Before DNS Propagation

  • http://your-ip-here/~username/ (Include the ~ and trailing slash)

Replace your-ip-here and username with the actual IP and username provided in your Welcome Email.

Example: http://123.45.67.89/~myuser/

Support Options

Live Chat Support
Perfect for quick questions or general assistance.

If your issue is not resolved within minutes, please open a support ticket for a more thorough response.

Ticket Support
Best for complex issues or in-depth troubleshooting.

  • Upon submitting a ticket, you’ll receive an automated email with a ticket number.
If you don’t receive this, we didn’t get your ticket.
  • Tickets are automatically escalated to the appropriate technician and most are resolved within minutes.
  • If you need further help, simply reply to the ticket within the client area.

Do not reply from your personal email, as you must authenticate via your client area.

Avoid opening multiple tickets for the same issue, as this may delay or prevent proper handling of your request.

Tips for Faster Support

Always include the following when submitting a ticket:

  • Your main domain name
  • Your username
  • A step-by-step explanation of the issue
  • Any login details required to replicate the problem (safely shared)
